The trail from Delaware Water Gap is one of the flattest sections on the entire route, which means less time puffing and panting and more time watching wildlife and taking photos. You’ll make stops and camp at places like Mohican outdoor centre, Wild cat shelter, Unionville.
When you arrive at camp, loosen your boots and prepare your evening meal ready to relax, you’ll forget you’re in the middle of nowhere. As the fire crackles and the embers glow red, you’ll realise you’re in heaven.
Arrive in New York and transfer to the family-run hotel near the Delaware Water Gap to relax and unwind.
Our first day on the Appalachian Trail takes us to Mohican Centre taking in Sunfish Pond and some breathtaking beauty en route. Walking distance approx. 10 miles. Tented Camp.
A day walking the forest trail on the ridge line to Brink Road shelter complete with an excursion down to Buttermilk Falls. Buttermilk Creek descends more than 500 feet in a series of cascades and rapids and a natural pool at the base of Buttermilk Falls provides swimming with the feel of an old swimming hole. Walking distance approx. 14 miles. Tented camp.
A fantastic day heading for Rutherford Shelter taking in both wonderful flora & fauna and spectacular views on the way. Walking distance approx. 14 miles. Tented Camp.
The longest distance day sees us stopping off at Unionville to replenish supplies and have some lunch. We then head on to the Puchuck shelter. Walking distance approx. 15 miles. Tented Camp.
A glorious day taking in the wonderful low land walks on the famous board walks as we wend our way to Wawayanda Shelter. Walking distance approx. 12 miles. Tented Camp.
A day that sees us heading for Wildcat Shelter. We will be crossing the New York State line and enjoy spectacular views from the trail overlooking Greenwood lake. Walking distance approx. 12 miles. Tented Camp.
Our final day of hiking takes us to to Mambasha Lake and Mambasha High Point, an area of outstanding natural beauty here we will be met by our transport and taken back to our hotel at Delaware Water Gap for a well earned rest, shower and a night in a soft bed. Walking distance approx. 5 miles. Hotel Accommodation.
